The monitoring section lets you select bus A or B for monitoring via your Mac’s physical outputs or headphones. Each output bus offers another insert slot and a level control and meter. Via these busses and the associated virtual drivers, you can send the A and B mixes to physical outputs and/or other applications for recording or streaming. Using the A and B buttons, each channel can be assigned to one of the two output busses (or both). This means that you can add effects without having to run your audio through a DAW or other application to do so. In addition to a level control, each channel offers three insert slots for AU plug-ins. Three physical inputs for microphones or other external audio devices are also available.

You can bring in audio streams from up to eight applications, such as DAWs, conferencing and chat apps or web browsers. In a way, the concept is similar to stand-alone podcasting studios like the RodeCaster Pro, PodTrak P8 or Flow8, but on your computer. The app is specifically tailored to the audio routing needs of podcasters, streamers and screencasters. GroundControl Caster takes the concept to a whole new level.
